Our Policies

Geonasium is committed to operating with integrity, respect, and responsibility. The following policies reflect our values and guide how we work with communities, partners, employees, and the environment.

Last reviewed: July 2026

1. Environmental Management Policy

Purpose

Geonasium recognises that healthy communities depend on a healthy planet. We are committed to minimising our environmental footprint and contributing to a sustainable future for Australia and the communities we serve.

Scope

This policy applies to all Geonasium operations, staff, contractors, suppliers, and program delivery activities in Australia and New Zealand.

Our Commitments

Reducing our footprint: We actively work to reduce energy consumption, water use, waste generation, and carbon emissions across all business activities.

Sustainable procurement: We give preference to suppliers and materials that demonstrate environmental responsibility, including those aligned with the ecoBiz program (Queensland Government).

Program delivery: Our outdoor and community-based program model inherently minimises the need for built infrastructure. We design programs to leave no trace and respect the natural environments in which they are delivered.

Continuous improvement: We set and review environmental objectives annually and work toward alignment with ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems principles.

Compliance: We comply with all applicable environmental legislation including the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (Cth), state and territory environment protection laws, and equivalent legislation in New Zealand.

Accountability

The Founder is responsible for overseeing environmental performance. All team members share responsibility for upholding this policy in their daily work.

2. Diversity and Inclusion Policy

Purpose

Geonasium believes that access to health and wellbeing is a universal right. We are committed to creating an environment where every person, regardless of background, identity, or circumstance, feels welcomed, valued, and included.

Scope

This policy applies to all Geonasium staff, contractors, volunteers, program participants, and partners.

Our Commitments

Equal opportunity: We provide equal opportunity in employment, contracting, and program participation. Decisions are made on the basis of merit, capability, and fit with our values.

Anti-discrimination: We do not discriminate on the basis of age, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religion, disability, pregnancy, marital status, or any other protected attribute.

Inclusive programs: Our programs are designed to be accessible to people of all fitness levels, abilities, and backgrounds. We actively seek to reduce barriers to participation.

Cultural safety: We acknowledge the diversity of cultures within Australian and New Zealand communities and commit to culturally safe practices in all that we do.

Psychological safety: We foster a workplace and program environment where all people feel safe to speak up, ask questions, and be themselves.

Applicable Legislation

This policy is informed by the Australian Human Rights Commission Act 1986 (Cth), Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth), Sex Discrimination Act 1984 (Cth), Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth), Age Discrimination Act 2004 (Cth), Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), and the Human Rights Act 1993 (NZ).

Any concern about discrimination or exclusion may be raised with the Founder directly. All concerns will be treated confidentially and investigated promptly.

3. Domestic and Family Violence Policy

Purpose

Geonasium acknowledges that domestic and family violence (DFV) is a serious and widespread issue that affects individuals across all communities and demographics. We are committed to supporting those affected and to contributing to a culture of safety and respect.

Scope

This policy applies to all Geonasium staff, contractors, and program participants.

Our Commitments

Leave entitlements: Geonasium provides paid family and domestic violence leave in accordance with the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) (10 days paid FDV leave per year for eligible employees) and equivalent provisions under New Zealand's Domestic Violence Victims Protection Act 2018.

Confidentiality: All disclosures related to DFV will be handled with strict confidentiality. Information will only be shared where required by law or where there is an immediate risk to safety.

Safety planning: Where a team member or program participant discloses DFV, Geonasium will work with them to put a safety plan in place, including flexible work arrangements where applicable.

Referral pathways: Geonasium maintains awareness of local DFV support services and will provide referrals as appropriate, including to 1800RESPECT (1800 737 732) and equivalent services in New Zealand.

Zero tolerance for perpetration: Geonasium has zero tolerance for any form of domestic, family, or intimate partner violence perpetrated by team members or program facilitators. Such conduct may result in immediate termination.

Applicable Legislation

This policy is informed by the Family Law Act 1975 (Cth), Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), the National Plan to End Violence Against Women and Children 2022-2032, state-based family violence legislation, and the Domestic Violence Victims Protection Act 2018 (NZ).

4. Indigenous Supplier and Community Support Policy

Purpose

Geonasium is committed to supporting First Nations peoples and communities in Australia and Maori and Pasifika communities in New Zealand and the Pacific. We recognise the unique rights, cultures, and contributions of Indigenous peoples and seek to build meaningful, respectful, and lasting relationships.

Scope

This policy applies to all procurement, partnership, and program delivery decisions made by Geonasium.

Our Commitments

Supply Nation: Geonasium gives preference to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-owned businesses in our procurement processes, in line with Supply Nation principles and Closing the Gap targets. We actively seek to grow the proportion of our supply spend with Indigenous businesses.

Cultural safety: All Geonasium programs delivered in or near First Nations communities are designed and delivered in a culturally safe manner, with community input sought before delivery begins.

Community engagement: We commit to genuine consultation and partnership with First Nations communities rather than transactional engagement. Communities are partners, not recipients.

Acknowledgement of Country: Geonasium acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we operate and pays respect to Elders past, present, and emerging.

Anti-racism: We have zero tolerance for racism in any form within our team or programs.

Reconciliation: Our work is guided by the principles of reconciliation and by the aspiration for a future in which First Nations peoples and all Australians thrive together.

Applicable Legislation and Frameworks

This policy is informed by the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth), the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth), the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), the Closing the Gap framework, and the Treaty of Waitangi (NZ).

5. Corporate Social Responsibility Policy

Purpose

Geonasium believes that business should be a force for good. Our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) approach is embedded in our mission: making stronger minds and bodies accessible to everyone, everywhere.

Scope

This policy applies to all Geonasium business activities, programs, and partnerships.

Our Commitments

B1G1 Giving: Geonasium is a proud member of B1G1 (Business for Good). For every program we deliver, a giving impact is generated that contributes to projects aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This is not a marketing add-on. It is built into how we do business.

Community reinvestment: A portion of every partnership and program contract is directed toward community initiatives, particularly in underserved and rural communities.

Transparency: We report on our social and community impact annually and make this information available to partners, clients, and the public.

Ethical business conduct: Geonasium conducts all business with honesty, fairness, and integrity. We do not engage in bribery, corruption, or anti-competitive behaviour.

Supply chain responsibility: We expect our suppliers and partners to uphold equivalent standards of social and environmental responsibility.

Mentoring for Growth: Geonasium participates in the Queensland Government's Mentoring for Growth (M4G) program, committing to ongoing learning and development for our leadership team.
